FACILITY PROTOCOLS UPDATE - February 10, 2022
SUMMARY (please read below the dotted line for the full update):
=====================================================================
On Tuesday, February 8, the Government of Alberta announced a three step plan to ease provincial public health restrictions. The University of Alberta has assessed the province’s announcement and its impact on our diverse community and campus activities. Thank you for your patience as we reviewed the available information.
Effective immediately:
Face coverings must be worn at all times in indoor facilities except while engaged in high intensity physical activity.
Zero Tolerance Policy
We thank the thousands of visitors who have utilized our facilities and services and treated our frontline staff with respect and courtesy! We do recognize this is a stressful time for all clients; however, we will not accept abusive or aggressive behavior and language towards our staff. We seek to provide a safe environment for all in our community, and we will take steps (up to and including permanent removal) to curb behavior and language that presents a threatening environment.
For up-to-date information about our basketball programs and services, please visit savillecentre.ca
It’s been our pleasure to support the basketball communities’ needs throughout this challenging time. Thank you for your continued support and patience!
*Also note that Spectators are asked to stay within the walls of the court, meaning no spectating from the hallway or the upstairs
February 9th Update:
REP removed from Legacy Athletics
January 19th Update:
Spectators will not be permitted at the Saville Centre until further notice
December 23rd Update:
From Saville: Saville Community Sports Centre and Edmonton Grads Basketball Centre continue to seek opportunities to serve our clients' health and wellness needs and to support the Government of Alberta's objective to reduce our contacts by 50%. Therefore, we would like to make you aware of new restrictions associated with the use of the Saville Community Sports Centre (West):
Effective December 27 (until January 21)
Reminders
All clients (12 years and older) must be fully vaccinated (14 days past 2nd dose) before entering the facility.
Masks are required at all times, except while engaged in high-intensity activities; coaches are requested to modify activities to allow participants to wear masks as much as possible.
The information noted in this update is subject to change without notice. We will continue to evaluate and make necessary changes as the situation evolves.
Nov 15th Update:
We are now playing and practicing in Edmonton Schools. All Edmonton schools are implementing the REP and there are NO SPECTATORS.
We are now playing and practicing at Edmonton School Gyms, please be aware that the following form needs to be filled out prior to every event at City of Edmonton School: Click Here for the Group Vaccination Disclosure Form
October 25th Update:
Monday October 25th is here, which means facilities implementing the Restrictions Exemption program are now requiring proof of full vaccination (two doses), please keep that in mind when you are planning to go to your games.
Legacy Athletics has announced that as of October 25th, they will be accepting spectators into the building, all spectators must comply with the REP to gain access.
Restrictions are tightening up in our Sherwood Park Gyms - St Theresa, Our Lady of Perpetual Help and Archbishop Jordan
The EYBA recommends that upon completion of the game, teams line up facing each other and applaud, instead of the usual high fives or fist bumps. This is only a recommendation, teams are still allowed to take part in the normal tradition if they'd like, coaches should meet first to decide how they'd like to handle it.

September 16th Original:
Alberta has put temporary measures in place to reduce the impacts of COVID-19 on the health care system
Here is what is important for EYBA:
Youth (under 18) sport, fitness, recreation and performance activities (Sept 16)
For EYBA we'll likely be having coaches "screen for symptoms" prior to each event and spectators may be "limited" or "not at all"
More to come as we get more information.
